The ARIA Albums Chart battle between Welsh heavyweights Bullet For My Valentine and Brisbane legends Dead Letter Circus has come to a close, seeing the bands place first and second respectively.

Earlier this week, Bullet For My Valentine were the first act named for the Soundwave 2016 bill, which saw new record Venom receive huge feedback from fans. It is their first number one album in Australia.

Funnily enough, Dead Letter Circus were the second band announced for next year’s festival, and were less than 500 units away from topping the charts during the week, but couldn’t quite nudge their way past the Welsh quartet. It's their third album and their third to debut at #2.

Dr Dre’s Compton, which held first place last week due to the hype surrounding the NWA Straight Outta Compton biopic, was bumped down from the top of the Albums Chart to #4, and Jimmy Barnes’ compilation record Best Of The Soul Years enters at #3, following his close call with the Bangkok bombing during the week.
