The Bohicas — The Making Of (EMI)

Picking up our Album Of The Week with four stars, rock'n'rollers The Bohicas "get loud, real soon" on The Making Of. With songs like To Die For and Only You bringing "more instruments, more production, more harmonies, more sonic ambition" but doing nothing to "dampen the rock'n'roll attitude", the album is a debut that "doesn't just show promise or potential. It's proof of a band already comfortable in its skin and ready to rock their way."

Ghost — Meliora (Spinefarm/Caroline)

Though you may be over Ghost's "shtick" and "the various incarnations of Papa Emeretius", Ghost have "songwriting chops most bands would kill for". Cirice and He Is are highlights, the latter with "acoustic guitar and vocals that evoke Simon & Garfunkel" with a "completely creepy vibe". Our reviewer reckons this is "another strong effort from the mysterious Swedes", and gave them three-and-a-half stars.

Disturbed — Immortalized (Reprise/Warner)

This one's a killer. Immortalized has "followed the band's defined style so intently it's borderline insulting". Its lyrics are typical in its "apocalyptic battlefield" themes and "stadium-aimed fist-pump choruses", with the album "as close to a reach-for-listeners'-wallets as you're likely to see". Scoring one-and-a-half stars, our reviewer concludes, "Let's all just move on and pretend this never happened."
