Last night, you might have noticed rumours of a tour featuring The Amity Affliction and A Day To Remember as the headline drawcards not-at-all quietly going viral after a photo of a tour poster appeared on the UNFD & Related Merch Swap Facebook page; with the jig essentially up, organisers have confirmed that the so-called Big Ass Tour is very, very real and happening at the end of this year.

As the leak indicated, the group of bands — which also includes special guests The Ghost Inside and Motionless In White — will kick off their sojourn in Sydney, at Qantas Credit Union Arena, on Saturday, 12 December, before heading across the country to Western Australia, where they'll perform at the Perth Arena on Monday, 14 December. South Australia's next in line, with the Adelaide Entertainment Centre getting their turn on Wednesday, 16 December, before Melbourne (Rod Laver Arena, 17 December) and Brisbane (Riverstage, 19 December) round out the festivities in style.

General-release tickets won't go on sale until 10am on Tuesday, 1 September, but there are a series of pre-sales running beforehand to give you a few chances to get in and pick up some passes before the masses have their turn: First up is the Fan Club pre-sale, from 2pm Friday 21 August until 5pm Sunday 23 August; then the Telstra pre-sale, from 11am Tuesday 25 August until 5pm Thursday 27 August; and the My Live Nation and Ticket Agent pre-sales, from 2pm Friday 28 August until 5pm Sunday 30 August.

As triple j notes, the headliners came together in the wake of Amity's rapturously received performance at A Day To Remember's Self-Help Festival in the US earlier this year, giving rise to a mutual sense of appreciation between the acts.

"We're psyched to do this tour with our new friends A Day To Remember! This is the biggest tour we've ever done, and it's going to be something special," Amity's bassist and vocalist, Ahren Stringer, said in a statement.

Meanwhile, ADTR's Jemery McKinnon is equally stoked on the prospect, especially given the location: "Australia is our favourite destination around the world, so we teamed up with our friends The Amity Affliction for one Big Ass Tour!"

More information on the tour is available from the band's respective websites (Amity // ADTR) and Live Nation.
