Shocking news.

More Owl City More Owl City

Daniel Jorgensen, former band member of US electro-pop outfit Owl City, has been indicted on charges of attempting to lure a 14-year-old girl and engaging in criminal sexual contact.

As Philly.com reports, the 30-year-old musician was indicted in Atlantic County for the incident which is believed to have happened on a beach two years ago in Atlantic City, while Jorgensen was on tour with the band.

The charges state that Jorgensen "committed the criminal sexual contact on an Atlantic City beach, and tried to lure the girl to a hotel room and to the band's tour bus, with the purpose of having sexual intercourse."

Jorgensen is facing penalties of up to ten years imprisonment for the luring charge and an additional 18 months for the fourth degree sexual contact charge. Prosecutor Jim McClain confirmed that bail on the warrant is set at $100,000 cash or bond.

Jorgensen often featured in Instagram photos with young female fans, which resulted in one fan writing an online post in December 2013 claiming "extended contact and flirtation" with the guitarist.

Soon after the same fan warned others to"stay away from him" Owl City parted ways with Jorgensen.

"As of this weekend, we have terminated Daniel Jorgensen’s employment and all involvement as a touring member of Owl City," band manager Steve Bursky said in a statement in 2013.

"Please understand that this business decision does not implicate Daniel in the judicial system, but was both necessary and appropriate given the allegations that have surfaced over the last handful of days."

Authorities did not confirm if the 2013 incident is what lead to this week's indictment, nor have they released the name of the victim.
