The deal comes ahead of the West Australian's eagerly awaited second full-length record

West Australian music-maker Mathas has a busy few months ahead, as he continues working on his hotly awaited second studio full-length, Armwrestling Atlas — but he'll no doubt be buoyed along the way by the newfound support he'll get as the newest signee to Big Village Records' burgeoning roster of artists.

The Sydney-based label already counts the likes of Soul Benefits, P. Smurf, Suburban Dark, Rapaport and Ellesquire among its ranks, among others, and the multi-talented muso's new home will help him bring Armwrestling Atlas out into the world this October in collaboration with WA collective label The Community Records, of which Mathas is a co-founder.

It's been a solidly upward shot for Mathas in recent times, having been named the WAM Urban Artist Of The Year the past three years running as well as picking up Song Of The Year in 2013 for Nourishment, featuring Abbe May. He was also featured as part of triple j's Next Crop initiative last year, and took out the prize for Best Music Video at this year's WA Screen Awards for Stone Cold Sober, featuring Empty.
