Spookyland Sign With Inertia Recordings Ahead Of Debut Album

The Sydney rockers have ridden the wave of hype behind the 'Rock And Roll Weakling' EP all the way to a label deal

Sydney-bred rock outfit Spookyland have joined the Inertia Recordings roster as they continue work on recording their debut full-length LP in the United States.

The band — Marcus Gordon, brother Liam, Nath Mansfield and Nic Malouf — are hunkered down in Nebraska, at Conor Oberst's studio Another Recording Company, to pull together the album, which will add to the Spookyland canon born with celebrated debut EP Rock And Roll Weakling in September last year.

Add in the experience of having supported acts like Cold War Kids, Benjamin Booker and Band Of Skulls, as well as spending considerable time abroad across the UK, Europe and the US, playing CMJ and Play It Again Sam festivals, the latter of which saw them rubbing shoulders with The Jezabels, Editors and The Pixies, and the album is looking to be a nicely pedigreed piece of work indeed.

The new deal also comes concurrent with the band's appearance at Lollapalooza this weekend, so expect them to walk away from that festival with a bunch of new fans all keen for the full-length when it eventually comes to be.
