Taipan Tiger Girls will launch their debut album at The Old Bar tomorrow night

Local label It Records has announced its first release for 2015 in the form of the debut album from Taipan Tiger Girls, a new instrumental power-trio featuring post-punk legend and house pioneer Ollie Olsen.

Olsen is well-known to veteran gig-goers for his work with seminal outfits such as Max Q and WhirlyWind, and his role with Taipan Tiger Girls sees the renowned muso return to his noise-based roots with the eclectic soundscapes crafted alongside co-conspirators Mat Watson (drums, synths) and Lisa MacKinney (guitar).

The band will launch their debut full-length, 1, at The Old Bar tomorrow, 31 July, with guest spots from Mick Turner, Ian Wadley & Kishore Ryan and Vacuum, with an after-gig DJ set from Antidelivian Rockinghorse.

A limited-edition, 100-copies-only pressing was released last Friday, 24 July, of which there will be a limited number for sale at the launch, but otherwise hit up It Records' Bandcamp to grab what little remains of their online stock.
