Azealia Banks Slams Australian Audiences As 'Terrible', 'Violent & Belligerent'

Tell us how you really feel, Azealia

More Azealia Banks More Azealia Banks

Depending on who you ask, Azealia Banks is either an overly opinionated loudmouth or a fearless warrior telling bold truths lesser humans wouldn't dare to utter, but regardless of your personal opinion on the matter, there's no denying that she knows how to make a statement.

Having freshly performed at this past weekend's Splendour In The Grass festival, at which she completed the rare achievement of actually finishing a whole Australian set, Banks took radio announcer Paul Brown's tongue-in-cheek congratulatory tweet in light of the success a little bit too deeply to heart, embarking on a scathing assessment of Australian gig-goers — who she called "terrible", as well as "violent and belligerent" in reply.

Also among Banks' issues with performing in Australia are the distance and pay rate — despite posting an obligatory "Australia is so beautiful" tweet upon touching down in the country ahead of Splendour, not to mention her placatory "I love my fans and would do anything to please them" caveat below. Talk about your mixed messages.

It's a pity she feels that way, because by all accounts both her Splendour set and accompanying shows were absolutely phenomenal displays. Hey, we guess not all love affairs can go both ways. There's no need to be quite so mean about it, though.
