The annual Electronic Music Conference will be heading to Sydney this year and the first keynote speaker to be announced on the bill is veteran British DJ, Carl Cox.

The 52-year-old producer who is one of the most respected names in dance and techno music will attend the electro music industry event which is to be held at the Ivy complex on Tuesday, 1 December and Wednesday, 2 December.

For the first time in its history, EMC will also be offering tiered delegate pass options — EMC Pro passes start from $199 and it gives patrons full access to all keynotes, masterclasses, panels, networking events and parties.

Alternatively, attendees can purchase the Academy Pass which is aimed at aspiring artists, managers and promoters; in addition to artist-led production sessions, the Masterclass program will include tailored interviews and discussions focusing on the needs and interests of emerging artists.

Meanwhile, applications for artists wishing to to showcase at EMCPlay are also now open — the program introduced last year took over various venues in Kings Cross over two nights to give over 120 Aussie artists the opportunity to perform in front of over 2000 international fans and media & industry figures.

This year a one-night event will take place on the second and final night of the conference with a venue to be announced soon.

EMC founder Neil Ackland says of the event: "[It] is more than an industry conference."

"It’s also a forum for new and emerging artists and industry members to make connections and gain valuable insights and skills into the electronic music industry. We anticipate that the EMC Academy ticket will make the conference more accessible to these people and help grow our industry here in Australia."

Tickets are on sale now and for more information on the conference, including EMCPlay applications, head to the event website
