Katie Noonan has released five independent albums since parting with a major label, but has just announced the release of her first ever crowd-funded record, Transmutant.

“It’s something I’ve been pretty hesitant to do up until now,” Noonan recently admitted to TheMusic, but the move to the Pledge model of funding was something she found encouraging and inspiring.

Her new album is a chronicle of the personal journey she's been on over the last few years, during which time she has spent mostly recording as a solo artist.

Transmutant is also a return to a full-bodied sound, finding Noonan working with a band once again to create a lush, cinematic sound.

TheMusic recently reviewed her show at the Sydney Festival, noting that "Noonan’s upcoming album is set to be soul-nourishing and tantalising for the senses, showcasing how far Noonan has come as an ambitious independent Australian artist."

The album is due for release on Friday 24 July through KIN Music/Universal Music.

Noonan will then hit the road for a string of dates through October and September with special guest MKO.
