Country Music Legend To Be Honoured In One Man Stage Play

22 June 2015 | 10:16 am | Staff Writer

World premiere this October.

Aussie country music legend Smoky Dawson will be honoured this October in the form of a stage show, An Audience With Smoky & Herb.

Queensland actor Ian Stenlake will perform in the one man musical play as he portrays two sides of the late singer — the private side of Dawson, referred to by his given name of Herb to those close to him and also as his famous and public alter ego, Smoky.

Stenlake will entertain the audience with stories and memories from Dawson's storied career which spanned over eight decades in music, film, television and radio.

Dawson had over one million people registered in his official fan club at the height of his career at a time when Australia had a population of just over eight million — he passed away in 2008 at the age of 94.
