Saskwatch — Sorry I Let It Come Between Us (Northside/Remote Control)

Our Album Of The Week this week, Saskwatch has offered fans "something of a surprise change of direction", by leaving behind "the ‘60s retro soul and funk strut of their previous work to embrace groovy pop vibes". Our reviewer notes singer Nkechi Anele dishes up a number of heartbreaking lyrics with songs like In Your Arms, Spitting Image and Time To Let You Go. We gave the "wonderfully different" album four stars

Giorgio Moroder — Déjà Vu (RCA/Sony Music)

With this album, Giorgia Moroder has aligned "with their more disco moments but moves in more mainstream pop directions", featuring divas like Kylie Minogue, Kelis, Britney Spears and Sia to create "true 21st century electro pop anthems that offer a rush of feel-good sensations". "Providing an irresistible hour of all the disco sparkle and glitter imaginable", we gave the album three stars

Alpine — Yuck (Ivy League/Liberation)

"Perfection isn't everything", says our reviewer. Alpine's Yuck is so pristine, so "perfectly quantised" that the record's glossiness almost seems two-dimensional. Through songs like Damn Baby and Standing Not Sleeping, it's evident that "the vocal lines that refuse to deviate from note perfection, and the guitar and synths that stop short of meandering beyond rigid motifs chip away at the interest levels". We gave Yuck two-and-a-half stars

Active Child — Mercy (Spunk/Caroline)

Mercy is no longer a showcase of Pat Grossi's "fierce originality" but a "slick, gorgeous record full of tiny glistening details and sincere-as-shit romantic expression that ultimately lacks credibility as a true step forward". Mercy is "full of stripped-back love songs, saccharine yet cold", and "there's no real fire". We gave it two-and-a-half stars, because our reviewer thought it didn't play to "Grossi's huge reserves of talent".
