Serial Podcast To Return With Two New Seasons

The first season of the true crime podcast, Serial went viral upon its release in October last year and subsequently it became the most downloaded podcast of all time, as it passed five million streams within one month. 

Fans have been patiently hoping for more and now their prayers have been answered with the announcement that two new seasons are currently in the works. 

According to A.V. Club, co-creators Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder and the team behind Serial will release the second season in Australia's spring time, with the third due out early next year. 

The first season publicly dealt with conspiracy theories surrounding the 1999 murder conviction of Adnan Syed and there so far been no indication as to what the new seasons will focus on. 

In a press statement released today it simply said: "They're very different from Season One, but no less interesting to us."
