Clowns are the only Aussie outfit to be named for this year's Riot Fest in Chicago

More Clowns More Clowns

Victorian punk heroes Clowns have been named as the only Aussie act aboard this year's first-wave line-up for the US' massive Riot Fest, with the game show-winning outfit freshly announced on the roster of acts destined to hit up the touring concert's event in Chicago this September.

Although Clowns won't be performing at Riot Fest's Denver (28-30 August) or Toronto (19-20 September) events, they're set to hit the Illinois-based festival, which runs from 11-13 September, freshly limbered up from their current run around the country (which lasts till July) on their Running Through These Veins tour of Australia.

Flanking the local lads in Chicago will be an army of alternative-scenes royalty, from headliners such as No Doubt, Modest Mouse, Faith No More, Iggy Pop and Snoop Dogg to upper-midcarders Rancid, Motorhead, Billy Idol, Alkaline Trio, Coheed & Cambria, Taking Back Sunday, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Flogging Molly, and Thrice, reformed or resurgent veterans such as Drive Like Jehu, The Movielife, The Ataris, The Damned, Alexisonfire, and The Academy Is…, all the way to ascendant fine-print acts like Modern Life Is War, The Coathangers, Into It. Over It., Foxing, Meat Wave and The Municipal Drainage Project. That's not even, like, half of the announced acts so far, and the festival has another wave coming mid-next month. Be very envious.
