Comedy trio hit the big screen

Fans of US comedy troupe The Lonely Island would have gotten overly excited to hear that the boys have begun work on a feature film and now more details for the project are taking shape.

According to Deadline, the previously unnamed project has been titled Connor4real - a spoof documentary about a rapper, Connor, played by Andy Samberg, who reunites with his former boy band after his solo album tanks.

The flick which has begun shooting in Los Angeles is being produced by fan favourite film maker Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, This Is 40, Trainwreck) and it is believed to be a send up of "fluffy" music documentaries such as Justin Bieber's Never Say Never and Katy Perry: Part Of Me.

Samberg's comedy partners Jorma Taccone and Akiva Shaffer will co-star and direct, while fellow SNL alumni Tim Meadows has been announced to play Harry, Connor's upbeat and overworked manager.

The film is yet to have a release date, but it will mark The Lonely Island's second film that they have written, directed and star in together after 2007's Hot Rod.
