'Slow West' and 'Strangerland' are the first two films to play a part in this initiative
Sydney Film Festival and Transmission Films have announced the inaugural 'Sydney Film Festival Presents', a brand new initiative which aims to increase the accessibility of Sydney Film Festival films around Australia.
To kick off the program, Sydney Film Festival has announced that Slow West and Strangerland will be the first two films to receive wider national screenings — namely at selected Palace Cinemas in Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, Brisbane and Perth.
Nashen Moodley, Sydney Film Festival's Director, says, "Slow West and Strangerland are both great festival-quality films wider audiences will enjoy. Holding screenings across Australian capital cities immediately following Sydney Film Festival’s premiere is a wonderful new way of sharing the excitement for these films around the country."
Directed by John Maclean, Slow West stars the renowned Michael Fassbender and Aussies Kodi Smit-McPhee and Ben Mendelsohn, while Nicole Kidman, Hugo Weaving and Joseph Fiennes will all star in Kim Farrant's directorial feature debut, Strangerland.
