Marlon Williams — Marlon Williams (Caroline)

The Music's reviewer Dylan Stewart was at once astounded by the sheer urgency of Marlon Williams' solo debut record. He says, despite being in his early 20s, "Williams tells tales you want to hear in a way that demands your undivided attention". The record scored our Album Of The Week with four-and-a-half stars.

Blur — The Magic Whip (Parlophone/Warner)

12 years on from Think Tank, Blur have come out with a gem, created in just five days stranded in Hong Kong. Reviewer Sevana Ohandjanian reckons "this new record suggests their already expansive horizons are broader, a melting pot of abstract influences that see bouncing synths give way to heartfelt ballads, Chinese and British symbolism intertwined". She gave The Magic Whip four stars

Ruby Boots — Solitude (Lost Highway/Universal)

Earning herself a solid four stars and the honour of creating "a spellbinding debut full-length release" and a "world class debut", Ruby Boots showcases her "red wine-stained voice that's as comfortable with sweet frailty as it is with full-blooded and brassy rock-n-roll and deep gospel/country soul".

Millencolin — True Brew (Epitaph/Warner)

Swedish punk rockers Millencolin have come out with a four-and-a-half star album seven years since their last album, The Music reviewer Pete Laurie claiming the album "declares itself pure Millencolin from the opening seconds of Egocentric Man".
