Veteran Booker James Power Joins Melbourne Pub Group, Relaunches Tiger Live Agency

James Power, the former booker of the venues in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney now known as Max Watt's, is embracing post-Hi-Fi life with gusto, having been announced as the new Live Booking Director for Victorian hospitality powerhouse the Melbourne Pub Group, as well as relaunching his own business, the Tiger Live Agency.

Melbourne Pub Group includes stalwart south-side venues the Prince Bandroom, Prince Of Wales Public Bar and Cellar Bar, and Power comes to his new duties with more than 20 years of experience up his sleeve as an artist manager and booker, with six of those years spent shaping The Hi-Fi venues into one of the most recognisable live-music brands in the country, and his appointment marks another step in Melbourne Pub Group's plans, in its own words, "to [bring] quality live music back to St Kilda".

"With Cellar Bar emerging as a high-end space for musicians and Bandroom and Public Bar already recognised as some of St Kilda's top live music venues, hiring someone of James' calibre will bring consistency across all of our entertainment venues," Melbourne Pub Group director Tom Walker said of the appointment in a statement.

"I'm just excited to be here, really, working for the Melbourne Pub Group, and I'm looking forward to the role," Power enthused about his new position to theMusic.com.au.

In addition to his booking duties across the Melbourne Pub Group's properties, Power has "revitalised" his own business, Tiger Live Agency, which he operated prior to his stint with the Hi-Fi venues, with plans to continue booking shows and events nationally through the organisation, details for which should become available in the near future, he says.

"We've relaunched, or revitalised, Tiger Live Agency a bit," Power said. "Tiger Live Agency will be booking events nationally … there's a lot of things in the works, so there'll be some exciting upcoming events in the coming weeks."
