More Mumford & Sons More Mumford & Sons

Sydney's Newtown Hotel will undergo a transformation from this coming Monday into a pop-up bar in honour of Wilder Mind, the new studio full-length from Brit folk-turned-alt-rock outfit Mumford & Sons, it has been announced.

Occupying the stalwart watering hole from Monday, 27 April, until Sunday, 10 May, the Wilder Mind pop-up bar will celebrate the eagerly awaited release of Mumford & Sons' first electric-centric foray with the unveiling of an exclusive eponymous beer.

The Wilder Mind Ale was created in collaboration with the master brewers at fellow local hangout Young Henrys, and will be available only over the Young Henrys brewery bar and at the Wilder Mind pop-up.

There's plenty else on offer to lure in the crowds alongside the special grog, however, with live performances from local acts and DJs planned, as well as the live, on-site creation of a mural by local artists, dedicated cocktails, 3D album artwork, whisky tasting, and pre-album-release listening sessions. Plus, special beer, which we cannot stress enough.

Mumford & Sons have been making headlines for more than just their decision to cut the banjo for this album of late — the band recently spoke out against Jay-Z's freshly launched TIDAL music streaming service, saying at the time that "the very mention of TIDAL is greeted by a series of loud fart sounds".

The bar will be open every night for its tenure from 6pm.
