Australian singer performs in home country for first time in years

It's been years since pop superstar Sia has returned to her home country.

But the 39-year-old singer has finally done just that as she took part in an exclusive performance on morning show, Sunrise today.

She performed her first international hit, Chandelier, live in studio and in her trademark style, the Adelaide born star covered her face in a purple pinata costume as she belted out the song in front of a white backdrop.

Renowned for hiding her face in live performances, Sia spoke to show host Samantha Armytage after the performance to speak about the reason behind the on stage disguises and her distaste for fame.

"It's unpleasant. It makes me feel hunted...it's like you're prey and they [paparazzi] are the predator and you're being hunted."

"It's just wanting to have a regular life, just like a regular person and still be able to make music and sing..."

Soon after, the Grammy nominated artist returned to perform her latest single, Big Girls Cry, this time sporting her signature large blonde wig under a black fedora.

Meanwhile, her seventh studio album entitled This Is Acting is due for release sometime this year.
