The annual event will host the world premiere of Aussie flick 'Ruben Guthrie'

The 2015 Sydney Film Festival has announced that it will be hosting the world premiere of Aussie-made film Ruben Guthrie — the directorial debut of award-winning playwright, screenwriter and actor Brendan Cowell — as its Opening Night Film for this year's event.

Showing at the historic State Theatre on Wednesday, 3 June, in partnership with superfancy car-makers Lexus, the Opening Night screening is all about the magnificence of the movies, so it is fitting that it should be led by such a film as the Sydney-shot Ruben Guthrie, which makes its big-screen transition from critically acclaimed stage roots (also under Cowell's guidance) and boasts a cast made up of local talent such as Patrick Brammall, Abbey Lee, Alex Dimitriades, Jeremy Sims, Robyn Nevin, Brenton Thwaites and Jack Thompson.

Tickets for the Sydney Film Festival Opening Night event are available now, as film-only purchases or limited 'Film & Party' tickets, which get you into the screening as well as an exclusive after-party at the Cargo Bar, on Darling Harbour. You slick devils.
