The annual convention of all things digitally created returns this October

The EB Expo is back in 2015 and bigger than ever, with several major gaming publishers set to peddle their wares over three days at Sydney Showground this October, joined for the first time by veteran comedians The Umbilical Brothers.

At first glance, the pair might seem an odd inclusion, but The Umbilical Brothers will be providing entertainment for the public throughout the expo weekend, which runs from 2-4 October this year, with elements from their new show as well as classic sketches planned to keep punters smiling as they navigate all the goods on offer. Fans will be able to purchase additional tickets alongside their expo entry tickets to see the lads in action.

But, of course, the bread and butter of the convention is the gaming world, and with never-before-seen titles from Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, Activision, Bethesda, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment and many more lined up to be playable at this year's expo.

"EB Expo continues to set the standards by celebrating the video game industry and embracing pop culture," EB Games marketing & events director Debra McGrath said in a statement. "We're boasting the most unreleased games of any exhibition in Australia this year."

It's not just veteran comedians helping to provide a more diverse spread of entertainment than gaming alone, however, with the announcement of the Zing Pop Culture Zone — featuring the Zing Mega Store, at which you'll be able to rifle through thousands of rare and otherwise specialty products from the pop culture world — as well as the Operation Awesome live pop-culture mash-up show, cosplay competitions and a 'block-tastic' exhibition from SydBrick, not to mention the annual Family Day, which this year features a live Adventure Time stage show, plus amusement sideshow rides, all adding to the varied reasons to hit the Showground in the second half of the year.

"Every year, the EB Expo team will continue to add fresh new elements to the mix, and we're really looking forward to 'wow'ing our existing and new crowds with original content," McGrath said. "The mammoth weekend will continue to be all about bringing gamers as close to the action as possible."

Tickets for this year's EB Expo go on sale next Thursday, 16 April. For more information about the finer points of the convention, check the event website.
