Chris Adler will take to the kit for the metal icons' next full-length release

More Megadeth More Megadeth

Revered metal legends Megadeth have all but explicitly confirmed that they have conscripted the rhythmic talents of Chris Adler — best known as the drummer in fellow powerhouse act Lamb Of God — to lay down kit work on their forthcoming studio full-length.

Following last year's dual departure of Megadeth members Shawn Drover (drums) and Chris Broderick (guitar), potential replacements have been the subject of much speculation, with reports as recently as last week suggesting Adler could be in the pipeline to replace Drover, at least as far as in-studio work is concerned — there are no expectations that he will be touring with the band — with Brazilian guitarist Kiko Loureiro, of Angra, the top bet for the vacant role of six-string slinger.

However, after Megadeth took to social media with an arty-looking photo of Adler rocking a Megadeth T-shirt, and accompanied by the hashtag #Megadeth15, the Lamb Of God vet's place among this year's (recording) line-up is all but assured. In fact, the most astute of fans were already convinced of Adler's inclusion before the arrival of the photo confirmation - an earlier '#Megadeth15' teaser video put on YouTube showing an obscured kit and its player was pegged as being Adler on account of an all-too-familiar-looking snare drum and some nimble little fills that recall his flourishes in his work with Lamb Of God.

Megadeth's most recent album was 2013's Super Collider, their 14th studio full-length and the final album to feature moderately long-lasting members Chris Broderick and Shawn Drover.
