'Montage Of Heck' hits big screens Down Under in May

The eagerly awaited first official documentary on the life of tragic grunge-rock icon Kurt CobainCobain: Montage Of Heck, will be released in cinemas across Australia for a limited run in May this year, it has been confirmed.

In the wake of the release of the film's heartbreaking trailer earlier this month — not to mention acclaimed screenings at events such as Sundance Film Festival — hopes were high that it would see an official antipodean release, and now we know that to be the case — Montage Of Heck will come to Australian cinemas on 7 May, just three days after its premiere in the United States, on celebrated cable channel HBO.

The finer details — how many screens, where they might be, how long we can expect the film to stay in cinemas — are yet to be publicised, but the knowledge alone that we'll have the chance to see the film in its full-size form, replete with post-credits exclusive interview footage with director Brett Morgen discussing the creation of the documentary. Cobain's daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, is executive producer of the film — the first fully authorised production of its kind, and a co-production of Universal Pictures International Entertainment Content Group and HBO Documentary films.
