New LPs from The Prodigy, Death Cab For Cutie, Pokey LaFarge and more

The Prodigy – The Day Is My Enemy (Take Me To The Hospital/Cooking Vinyl)

British electronica group, The Prodigy will released their latest album tomorrow and The Music’s Mac McNaughton says: “the overall nocturnal aggression of The Day Is My Enemy makes for a long overdue repositioning of The Prodigy as firestarters.”

Death Cab For Cutie – Kintsugi (Warner)

Claiming the fractured qualities associated with the word “Kintsugi”, Death Cab For Cutie are back. This time sans Chris Walla, and The Music’s Mac McNaughton reckons “it’s lovely to hear [Gibbard] swaddled once more in Dntel-like radiowaves.

Pokey LaFarge – Something In The Water (Rounder/Universal)

With his seventh album and Rounder debut, LaFarge has “created a tapestry that allows space and light into the dusty nostalgic corners as he sings primarily about affairs of the heart”, according to The Music’s Chris Familton. Something In The Water blends music genres, incorporating early jazz, ragtime, country blues and Western swing.

Lurch & Chief – Breathe EP (Illusive)

Melburnian group Lurch & Chief are back with a new EP, and a new focus, as The Music’s Carley Hall observes. This time round “Lillibeth Hall’s forceful vocal takes centre stage for more of the action,” Hall said.
