A crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to bring to life a sequel to 2001 cult comedy favourite Super Troopers has reached its minimum goal of $US2 million (about $2.5 million) in roughly one day.

At the time of writing, the campaign has already accrued $US2,167,466 — or 108% of its intended target — with the figure still visibly rising in real time.

"If we could cry, we'd be crying," campaign creators Broken Lizard Industries wrote on their Indiegogo page. "Thank you so much. Sincerely. We can make the skinny version of Super Troopers 2 but I think we all want the muscular version so let's keep going."

Donation packages run from $US10 to $US35,000 — incredibly, the upper-limit perk, of which there was only one, has sold out, with other exhausted options including $US15,000, $US12,500, $US10,000, $US4,000, $US3,750, $US3,500, $US1,250, $US750, $US600, $US250 and one of the several $US150 perks packages, with multiple others swiftly approaching their limits. In other words, people seem to really want this sequel.
