Midweek chart figures

More San Cisco More San Cisco

Perth outfit San Cisco may have literally shot themselves in the foot recently, but their new album Gracetown is set to reward them with their highest ARIA Albums Chart position to date.

Out last Friday, midweek figures show that the album is storming towards a top three debut – a position that could be even higher if they can muster some strong Wednesday-to-Friday sales. The stranglehold on number one that the Fifty Shades Of Grey soundtrack has had for the past few weeks will almost certainly be broken, with Madonna’s new album Rebel Heart an odd-on favourite for the top spot. San Cisco are a little way off Madge at the moment, but slightly ahead of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ latest record Chasing Yesterday, which is a top five hope at this stage.

San Cisco's debut self-titled album entered the charts in late 2012, peaking at 17 and spending two weeks in the top 50.

San Cisco have recently landed in Los Angeles, where they are about to start a sold-out mini tour. The album’s making an impact over there as well, with Gracetown being the most added track on CMJ’s college Radio 200 chart (a ranking of reported adds to radio) and is at five on CMJ’s influential Triple A chart. Those full charts will be released with the magazine’s upcoming 1383 issue.
