The community radio station will once again spend a full week championing the cause of live local music

Stalwart Queensland community radio station 4ZZZ has announced that it will once again be staging a full week in celebration of live local music with the second annual Brisbane Live Music Week lined up for this March.

Following on from last year's well-received inaugural effort, the sophomore iteration of Brisbane Live Music Week is set to take over the city scene from 22-28 March with a series of multi-stage events, trivia nights, live performances (in the flesh and on the airwaves), and generally doing all they can to champion the cause of our hard-working local artists and bands. This includes the staging of several "BLMW Presents" events and posting an open call for gig submission to help local punters get across the full spread of entertainment on offer all over their city throughout the week.

Final details aren't yet totally squared away, as the station is still seeking further venues, artists, promoters and so forth with whom to collaborate, but no doubt the full program of events will see the light of day in the near future to give those planning to attend ample opportunity to wrap their head around who and what they can see, and where and when they can see it.

Last year's humble inaugural event featured a trivia night and a mini-fest of sorts at then-fledgling venue The Underdog, featuring performances from the likes of McKisko, Tape/Off, We All Want To, Naked Maja, Claire Quinn, Kellie Lloyd, Nana Vigilante, Girls Girls Girls, Gerald Keaney & The Gerald Keaneys and more, alongside DJ sets from Rikki Newton, Domestic Sphere and Polo.

Expect this year to bolster the spread considerably as 4ZZZ look to capitalise on the knowledge and experience gained last year to make 2015's follow-up is the new gold standard for precinct-wide celebrations of live music.

Keep an eye on Brisbane Live Music Week's website for new details as they come to light.
