More SAFIA More SAFIA

Canberra dance trio Safia have accused American pop singer Ariana Grande of ripping off one of their videos for her latest clip, One Last Time.

The guys called out Grande's label and the filmmaker, Max Landis, behind her new video for reworking the concept of their You Are The One clip, which was released last September.

Both clips take place on end of the world-type concepts, with Grande's role slightly similar to the main similar lead in Safia's video. There does appear to be major similarities between how both clips end and some of the colours and effects used, which Safia think could have been directly stolen from their work.

"This might just be coincidence but to us it looks like either the people at Ariana Grande's label or the film maker have seen our clip for You Are The One & reworked the concept a little bit and then straight up stolen and copied some bits...(ESPECIALLY THE END!)," the band wrote in a Facebook post.

"Wouldn't be the first time uncreative talentless fucks from big labels and/or big film firms steal ideas from small independent creatives who are trying really hard to make something different for a change..."

Grande's director Landis has been made aware of Safia's video by people on Twitter, posting a couple of cryptic messages in the time since, without directly acknowledging the controversy.
