The pair of bands will hit stages in Sydney and Melbourne in a couple of weeks

Renowned US instrumental prog-metal outfit Animals As Leaders will join forces with Aussie extreme prog-metallers Ne Obliviscaris for a pair of Soundwave Festival sideshows in the south-east capitals this month.

The hard-rocking cohorts will hit Melbourne's Ding Dong Lounge on Tuesday, 24 Feb, and head up to Sydney's Manning Bar for a show on Thursday, 26 Feb. Both shows are 18+, with tickets available from tomorrow, 17 Feb, at 9am AEDT via Oztix.

Both bands carry significant weight within their respected scenes, with Animals As Leaders blossoming over the course of the past eight years from solo project for guitarist Tosin Abasi into full-fledged band and pioneers of the contemporary prog-metal scene, while Ne Obliviscaris managed to raise in excess of $80,000 via crowdfunding platform Pozible late last year, which should give you an indication of how their fanbase feels about anything at all that the 12-year-old Melburnian band does.
