The band will be filling Quinn Allman's boots with a little help from Saosin's Justin Shekoski

More The Used More The Used

Veteran post-hardcore-cum-alt-rock outfit The Used have announced that founding guitarist Quinn Allman will be stepping down from his role in the band for the foreseeable future, with Saosin stringsmith Justin Shekoski stepping in to fill the void for their upcoming tour of the United States.

In making the announcement on Facebook this morning (AEST), the band expressed their sadness in conveying the news of Allman's departure, explaining that it would only be a "temporary hiatus" — albeit indefinitely so.

"Quinn is a vital part of the group and [we] wish him the best in his upcoming endeavors and look forward to the day he rejoins us on the road," the band wrote.

"We are thrilled, however, to share that Justin Shekoski of Saosin will be filling in for Quinn as we hit the road this year! Justin has been a close friend to all of us for many years and will help make this tour a memorable one!"

Allman has been a part of The Used since their inception in 2001, helping to steer the band from the rough-hewn, scream-soaked material of their self-titled debut through six studio albums of increasing refinement and accessibility. Shekoski, likewise, is a founding member of Saosin, who recently completed a reunion tour in the States with original vocalist and Circa Survive frontman Anthony Green.

The Used, with Shekoski, will set off for their US tour with Every Time I Die, Marmozets and The Eeries in April, after returning from their scheduled run of shows in the United Kingdom from this Thursday.
