But police praise the overall behaviour of the 12,500 strong crowd

Police charged 40 punters with drug-related offences at yesterday's St Jerome's Laneway Festival in Sydney.

A report released by NSW Police today said that the majority of those detected with drugs were in possession of cannabis and "numerous types of pills and powder." The 40 charged were issued with either Cannabis Cautions or Court Attendance Notices.

Despite the offences, local police praised the behaviour of the 12,500 or so strong crowd that attended the event, which was held at the Sydney College Of The Arts in Rozelle. The report said no major incidents occurred at the festival, which featured performances from Future Islands, FKA Twigs, Mac DeMarco, Dune Rats, St Vincent, Pond and many more.

The news comes a month after Sydney's Field Day experienced over 140 drug-related arrests on New Year's Day.
