Twenty teams will share the cash to boost youth-centric live music events in the state

Indent, the youth entertainment initiative orchestrated by MusicNSW, has unveiled its list of successful applicants in line to grab a share of a total of $60,000 in grant money to aid the staging of alcohol- and drug-free all-ages live music events across the state.

All up, 20 teams were approved for this year's funding, with the applicant groups consisting of young people aged 12-25. Grants are split into two categories —  Grassroots, for smaller-scale events, worth $2,500 to each team, and Event Development, for previously funded teams wanting to stage larger community events, worth up to $5,000.

"The Indent Partnership Grants provide many key benefits for young people and their communities," Indent project co-ordinator Greg Clennar said in a statement. "Not only does it increase all-ages live music scenes and give young bands the opportunity to play live, but also imparts practical skills in event management for young people interested in a future in the music, events and entertainment industries."

This year's recipients of Grassroots funding include the Youth Music Committee (Bankstown), Bondi Blitz, Cessnock Youth Entertainment Committee, Liquidfest Organising Committee (Queanbeyan), Manning Youth Action Team (Taree), Youth Beat (Scone), Cobar Youth Council, Cowra Youth Council, Yass Valley Youth Council, Ignite Crew (Blacktown), Indent Crew (Coolamon) and Tamworth's Youth Reference Group.
