The ubiquitous Aussie muso can now count at least one successful talk show host among his new fans

More Chet Faker More Chet Faker

Acclaimed Australian troubadour Chet Faker spent all of 2014 moving from strength to strength, and - even just a week into it - 2015 looks like it won't be much different, with the Built On Glass scribe able to count US talk-show host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres among his burgeoning fan base.

Introduced to American audiences on the veteran funnywoman's eponymous program, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, as one of her "favourite new artists", Faker delivered a flawless performance of his popular track Gold, giving viewers a taste of the velvet-smooth vocal work and ol' body-shuffle-driven razzle-dazzle that have conspired to make Faker one of the most unstoppable acts to have branched out from this great southern land in recent memory.

Check out the stellar showing below.

Faker still stands a strong prospect to place at least once in the upper echelons of this month's triple j Hottest 100 competition, with Talk Is Cheap standing in second place behind Peking Duk's High at the time of writing, and 1998 just outside the top five; Gold is also in the running, but presently sits outside the top 20.
