The local council is pushing for the iconic venue to be chosen

Iconic St Kilda venue Palais Theatre is in the running for $10 million of State Government funding to develop a rock’n’roll Hall Of Fame.

A rock’n’roll Hall Of Fame was promised by the Victorian Labor party in the last election, and the Port Phillip Council where Palais Theatre resides is pushing for the historic building to be chosen as the location, the Herald Sun reports.

The beloved live-music venue is also up against The Palace, Forum, the former Collingwood TAFE site and more.

After being threatened with closure in August, the ALP pledged $13.4 million for repairs.
