The renowned filmmaker will appear exclusively in Brisbane this coming March

The Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery Of Modern Art (QAGOMA) and Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) have netted a major coup for next year, securing the first-ever Australian public appearance from celebrated filmmaker and artist David Lynch.

The David Lynch: In Conversation event will be held at QPAC from 2.30pm on Saturday 14 Mar as part of the wider David Lynch: Between Two Worlds exhibition running at GOMA between 14 Mar and 7 Jun. QAGOMA director Chris Saines described the event as "a rare opportunity to hear firsthand from the acclaimed director and artist".

QAGOMA's Between Two Worlds is a comprehensive retrospective of Lynch's career in art, music and cinema, featuring rare works, albums worth of photography, music recordings, and a look back at his extensive film, video and TV catalogue. The exhibition also includes a ticketed masterclass with the man himself, special music and film events, and a program of late-night openings to keep punters engaged well into the evening, while In Conversation, said QPAC chief executive John Kotzas, "will provide insights into Lynch's life, work and many of his passions including painting, film, music and meditation".

"Lynch's first public appearance in Australia is an exciting opportunity for our audiences in Queensland and right across the country to hear from this inspiring, multi-disciplinary artist," he said.
