The hirsute hero shares $4 with fellow hitmakers Peking Duk

Arguable Aussie muso of the year Chet Faker and incendiary dance duo Peking Duk stand as a solid favourite to take out the #1 position on 2015's forthcoming triple j Hottest 100 countdown, according to online bookmaker Sportingbet.

At the time of writing, the solo troubadour's acclaimed track Talk Is Cheap is enjoying $4 odds of being the most-voted-for song in the competition, a position it shares with Peking Duk's chart-busting single High. The pair of acts sit just ahead of German indie outfit Milky Chance, whose Stolen Dance isn't too far off their pace, netting $7 odds for the likelihood of their victory, a value they share with lauded expatriate Aussie Sia and her hit Chandelier.

Ubiquitous US outfit Future Islands and Seasons (Waiting On Youhave garnered themselves odds of $11, just ahead of Meredith drawcards The War On Drugs, with Red Eyes earning $13 odds, which they share with electronic prodigy ZHU (Faded). Meanwhile, local hip hop vets the Hilltop Hoods (Cosby Sweater) and fellow rhymesmith Illy (Tightrope) pull out $15 odds. Caribou (Can Do Without You) and Hozier (Take Me To Church) round out the sub-$20 acts in with a shot, at $17.

This year's Hottest 100 winner, Riptide, by Vance Joy, was a $4 second favourite to take out the top spot, proving to be quite the upset when it trumped the hotly touted Lorde and Royals to #1. Her entry this year, Yellow Flicker Beat, is something more of a long shot, sharing $26 odds with The JezabelsLook Of Love. Similarly, Joy is a little further off the pace going into 2015 than he was in this year's competition — Mess Is Mine stands at $51 for a chance to top the list.

If you've got cash to burn (or you know something serious that we don't), you could always try your luck at the deep end of the list — Deadmau5 (Pets) and La Roux (Uptight Downtown) both have $251 odds, just behind of a group of five acts at $201 that includes Action Bronson (Easy Rider), The Cairos (Desire), Jamie xx (All Under One Roof Raving), Wet (You're The Best) and CHVRCHES (Strong Hand).

You can get across the full list at Sportingbet — odds are being continually updated, already chalking up some significant changes in the space of a few hours (Sia was originally the top bet, at $4, before her tumble to fourth spot) so it's worth keeping an eye on the list to keep abreast of what the bookies think before you cast your bet.
