Gold medal-winning paralympic basketballer Dylan Alcott has come away from Meredith Music Festival the unlikely star of the weekend after crowdsurfing his way on-stage to perform alongside rap icon Ghostface Killah.

When the New York rhymesmith asked for a hand to perform fan-favourite track Protect Ya Neck, by Wu Tang Clan, Alcott's friends lifted him up above the crowd, who then ensured the 24-year-old champion — who had spent the previous 24 hours solidly playing tennis for charity, raising more than $70,000 for the Starlight Foundation and Variety Children's Charity in the process — made his way to the stage to deliver a word-perfect verse alongside one of his personal music heroes.

"What better way to unwind after 24 hours of world record breaking tennis than rapping your favourite verse, with one of your favourite rappers from your favourite group of all time?" Alcott said of the performance.

Although Alcott admitted to News Corp that Protect Ya Neck is "the song I listen to before I play any match", he was nonetheless stunned that the performance went off without a hitch.

"I can't believe I got the verse out perfectly. Sport is my comfort zone. Rapping on stage is not," he said.
