Tame Impala Lead Aussie Charge At 2015 Austin Psych Fest

Lauded Aussie-bred psych-rockers Tame Impala have been listed among the headliners for the forthcoming Austin Psych Fest, now the world's biggest annual gathering for the faithful of all things psychedelia.

The band are listed nice and eminently early in the line-up for next year's festival, which will take the name Levitation, immediately after The Flaming Lips but before The Jesus & Mary Chain, Spiritualized and Primal Scream, because that's the kind of weight the Lonerism craftsfolk carry these days.

However, despite being the most prominently featured, Tame Impala aren't the only Aussies breaching the 2015 bill, which also features the likes of Mac DeMarco, Thee Oh Sees, Earth, The Sword, Indian Jewelry and The Blank Tapes, among many others.

Firstly, we can claim representation via The Black Ryder, an LA-based, Australia-bred duo consisting of expat musos Aimee Nash and Scott Von Ryper. Four years on from the release of their debut LP, Buy The Ticket, Take The Ride, the band stand poised to drop their follow-up effort, The Door Behind The Door, via self-created label The Anti-Machine Machine LLC, with distribution and manufacturing through The Orchard. The album will come after a solid period of touringalongside esteemed peers such as Primal Scream, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Cult, The Raveonettes and Broken Social Scene, among others.

The land Down Under will also be on show through the mad riffs of stalwart Melburnians Krakatau, who promise to subject the Texan crowd to a raft of "explosive improv jams, haunting drones and climactic conclusions", which all sounds like an amazing excuse to get devil's-food baked and stare at your shoes for three hours. That's how long their set's likely to go for, right? We're not complaining, if so.
