Flume, Peking Duk, Sheppard, Hilltop Hoods and more make the cut too

More Chet Faker More Chet Faker

ARIA Award winners Chet Faker and Iggy Azalea, as well as multiple 2013 ARIA Award nominee Vance Joy, have (somewhat unsurprisingly) come out atop the list of most streamed acts in Australia, as measured annually by ubiquitous music service Spotify.

Faker took out the coveted title of Most Streamed Australian Artist (and came in at #6 on the global equivalent list), while Joy's Riptide unremarkably walked away with Most Streamed Australian Song. Iggy Azalea's acclaimed full-length The New Classic was the Most Streamed Australian Album for the year, with Faker's Built On Glass coming in at second place.

Faker was a two-time appearance on the Most Streamed Australian Songs list, with both Drop The Game (#4) and Talk Is Cheap (#7) earning significant web play, while old-school locals INXS making a surprise appearance in the top ten Most Streamed Australian Artists list following a resurgence of interest in the wake of this year's lauded Never Tear Us Apart miniseries.

In a more global sense, UK troubadour Ed Sheeran took out both Most Streamed Artist and Most Streamed Album (for X), while Katy Perry usurps Rihanna as Most Streamed Female. Pharrell Williams' seven-chorus-long Happy was the world's Most Streamed Track, because of course it was. New Zealand darling Lorde was #5 among Most Streamed Females globally, and #4 among Most Streamed Artists generally.

The Aussie presence was still felt heavily across the global spectrum — Vance Joy (Riptide, #3), Iggy Azalea (Fancy, #4) and Sia (Chandelier, #6) all feature on the worldwide Most Streamed Tracks list, and Azalea (The New Classic, #3), Faker (Built On Glass, #4), 5 Seconds of Summer (5 Seconds Of Summer, #6) and Sia (1000 Forms Of Fear, #9) make up nearly half the presence on the top-ten Most Streamed Albums for the year.
