Unrelenting blizzards have kept the indie rockers trapped on a New York Highway for nearly two days

More Interpol More Interpol

While much of Australia is sweating itself to death under the increasingly intensifying summer sun, our friends way up north and 'round the planet in the United States of America are doing battle with ferocious, record-breaking snow storms — one of which has left New York-bred indie heroes Interpol stranded on a Buffalo highway for nearly two days straight.

As Consequence Of Sound originally reported, when the band had been stuck for about 30 hours, Interpol were on their way to Toronto, Ontario, having completed a gig in Columbus, Ohio on Monday night (US time) before finding themselves outmatched by the ceaseless furore of the storm, which brought more than 60 inches (about 1.5 metres) of snow down upon the stretch of road and surrounding area. The consequent stranding forced them to consequently cancel not only their planned Toronto show, but their following performance (which was due to go down on Thursday night, US time) in Montreal as well.

Thankfully for the band (and those who missed out on seeing them play), they're taking it all in stride, comprehensively chronicling their adventure — or lack thereof, we suppose —  as they work their way through their no doubt by now dwindling supplies of snack foods and alcohol.

As of two hours ago (at the time of writing), Interpol had still not made any kind of headway in terms of getting out of their predicament. Follow all the drama through the compilation of Interpol's tweets, below.
