Get into the Fasshion this cup day as The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk To The Catwalk extends it's opening hours.

The National Gallery of Victoria’s new exhibition The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk To The Catwalk has been open for a couple of weeks now, delighting gallery-goers with its 140-plus carefully crafted, detailed garments. It will be open seven days a week until its conclusion on 8 Feb.

The exhibition – which is curated by Thierry-Maxime Loriot and organised by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in collaboration with Maison Jean Paul Gaultier, Paris – features exclusive material never before exhibited in previous venues of the tour, as well as ready-to-wear collections and pieces created for the likes of Australian muses Kylie Minogue, Nicole Kidman, Andreja Pejic and Gemma Ward.

Tony Ellwood, Director, NGV, said, “Jean Paul Gaultier’s radical designs break down stereotypes and clichés, questioning preconceived standards of beauty and challenging societal, gender and aesthetic ‘norms’. The results are exquisite works of art; exuberant, witty, surprising and dramatic. This is a unique chance for our visitors to experience the world of Jean Paul Gaultier; a world that extends beyond the catwalk into the realms of art, music and film.”

If you’ve not yet had the time to visit during the week, the exhibition will be open on Melbourne Cup Day, Tuesday 4 November.
