Sinead O’Connor Leads Next WOMAD Announce

Outspoken Irish singer-songwriter Sinead O’Connor this morning leads the second round of artists announced for the WOMADelaide festival.

A hugely influential figure since emerging in the 1980s, O’Connor adds to her Australian itinerary with the South Australian festival. She’s joined in the second announcement by Mali’s father-son duo Toumani & Sidiki Diabate and local Go-Betweens member Robert Forster.

“What makes WOMADelaide a truly unique festival is the extraordinary diversity of musical experiences for audiences who will get the opportunity to experience not only one of contemporary music’s biggest stars in Sinéad O’Connor,” said festival director Ian Scobie, “but also her non-western contemporaries including the talents of a complete maestro like Toumani Diabate.”

Joining the likes of Neneh Cherry and Youssou N’Dour from the first reveal, the following artists have been added today:
