Smashing Pumpkins, AC/DC, Nirvana, No Use For A Name, Pink Floyd and several others get the lively sleeve-art treatment from Juan Betancourt

Venezuelan artist Juan Betancourt, also varyingly referred to as JB or JBetcom, has been turning iconic album covers into animated GIFs, giving the well-known art an extra degree of visual impressiveness and, occasionally, uneasiness.

Since first testing the waters with a simple do-up of Coldplay's Parachutes, replete with spinning globe, JB has gone on to tackle an increasingly impressive array of album art from acts and bands including the Smashing Pumpkins, NOFX, No Use For A Name, Pink Floyd, KoRn, Cannibal Corpse, Megadeth, Jimmy Eat World, Blur, Guns 'N' Roses, Helloween, Nirvana, Bad Religion, Pearl Jam, Dream Theater and many, many more — heck, even AC/DC get a look-in. Check out a sample of his awesome work below (all pics via JB's Tumblr):

All excellent pieces of art, but how disquieting is that Cannibal Corpse one, right? Megadeth's Countdown To Extinction ain't much cheerier, either.

Still, such has been the bloom in interest for the Venezuelan artist's work that JB has now opened up the floor for requests/suggestions on Tumblr, so if you've got any album covers you'd especially like to see in animated GIF form, here's your opportunity.

Now, if you'll excuse us, we've got a Tumblr archive to trawl through. Or, to express it visually:
