Kincumber and Dee Why to close mid next year

NSW live music hub Lizotte's has announced it will be closing two of its three venues in 2015.

The news was confirmed in a statement released by owners Brian & Jo Lizotte this morning which revealed the Kincumber, Central Coast and Dee Why, Sydney locations will close mid next year unless they are sold in the interim. Lizotte's other venue is located in Newcastle.

"With the loss of my Dad early this year, who was passionate about his music, it just brings home that it's a gift to be doing something you are passionate about for a living but there needs to be a work/family balance. This decision comes down to us finding that balance," Brian Lizotte said in the statement.

"It’s not with a heavy-heart that either Jo or I have made this decision to simplify our lives , in fact, it’s extremely exciting for us to be embarking on the next chapter. Putting renewed energy and focus on the Lizotte’s brand in Newcastle with new customer experiences such as table-side cooking and unique events for and by the local community."

The two closing venues, which were put on the market earlier this year, will hold their final celebrations in April and May next year. Kincumber is expected to close on Friday 24 April, with Dee Why to follow a month later on Saturday 30 May.

In the meantime, they will still be holding live music — and booking artists — with shows coming up from Josh Pyke, Thirsty Merc, Jack Carty, Beccy Cole and Dragon.
