FBi Social Closing In November

Say hello to the Bandroom

Beloved Kings Cross live-music institution FBi Social, held on level 2 of the Kings Cross Hotel, will close its doors following a final shindig on saturday, November 1, parent station FBi Radio has announced.

It's not all grim news for gig-lovers, though, with venue operators Solotel committed to reopening the space under a new moniker, The Bandroom, which will continue the long-established dedication to putting on live music shows within the hotel's walls upon launch the following week on Saturday, November 8.

In order to ensure the pop-up-venue-turned-indelible-fixture is sent off in a style fit for a space that has hosted more than 1000 local bands (including DZ Deathrays, Deep Sea Arcade, Ball Park Music, Bleeding Knees Club, The Preatures, RUFUS and many more) and 40,000 punters in the past three-and-a-half years, FBi Social is staging one last bash to celebrate their tenancy at Kings Cross Hotel.

So, make sure you get along to the final festivities on FBi Social's last night, November 1, to be entertained by the likes of MansionairWorld's End PressAnd (Dave Rennick of Dappled Cities) and the FBi DJs. Tickets are $15 presale, $20 on the door, and are available now.

If you're going to be one of the countless faithful lamenting this news, you can take some measure of heart in knowing that where these doors close for FBi, other windows open — namely, they'll be focusing their freed-up time and energy on new initiatives such as new digital electro station FBi Click, as well as their internationally sprawling annual competition Northern Lights, which will see artists such as LUCIANBLOMKAMP and The Walking Who jetting off to Iceland next month.
