Ed Sheeran, Barbra Streisand and Madden Bros ahead of them

More The Preatures More The Preatures

The Preatures are set to debut in the top five of the ARIA Albums chart this week, leading this week’s new entries but chasing down a resurgent Ed Sheeran and co.

The Sydney band’s debut album Blue Planet Eyes has been fuelled by their runaway hit Is This How You Feel? and according to midweek figures will be this week’s top debut – currently just ahead of Leonard Cohen’s Popular Problems, which is also sizing up a top five spot.

It’s not out of the realms of possibility that The Preatures could rise higher by Friday afternoon if they can rustle up a late-week push, but they’re chasing down Sheeran’s X, which is enjoying strong sales following his AFL Grand Final performance, and The Madden BrothersGreetings From California, which will bounce back from nine after debuting at one. (Sheeran’s + is selling well too, but not to the extent of X.)

Alongside current number one, Barbra Streisand’s Partners, those three are likely to make up the top three spots if things stay the same before the end of the week.

Other album debuts will come from Prince, who’ll have two albums enter the top 50 – Art Official Age is a top 15 hope, Plectrumelectrum with 3RDEYEGIRL is top 30. Falls, Southbound and Field Day guest SBTRKT is likely to drop just outside the 15 with Wonder Where We Land with Soundwave-bound ex-My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way looking at a 20-25 spot with Hesitant Alien.

Currently on the farewell tour, local troublemakers Bluejuice are sizing up a top 30 debut with Retrospectable. It’s ahead of country star Kenny Chesney’s The Big Revival, Jamie T’s Carry on The Grudge and John Mellencamp’s Plain Spoken.

The Frozen soundtrack refuses to die and is experiencing a modest sales boost, as is Taylor Henderson’s Burnt Letters.

Ed Sheeran is also the main mover in the ARIA Singles Chart according to midweeks, with Thinking Out Loud up around the top three in a ranking currently topped by The Veronica’s You Ruin Me and Meghan Trainor’s All About The Bass.

The highest debut will be Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea’s Booty around the 25-30 mark, followed by Mary Lambert’s Secrets, Marlon Roudette’s When The Beat Drops Out and Kendrick Lamar’s I.

Expect Echosmith’s Cool Kids and 5 Seconds Of Summer’s Amnesia to rise also.
