Disktrict's dance-centric extravaganza reigns once more this November

Disktrict’s annual Sydney-adjacent dance party Return To Rio will hit Australia once more this November, with the renowned electro-focused festivities all set for its 2014 iteration with this morning’s announcement of the line-up for the year.

Leading the charge of artists this time around will be Lithuanian production prodigy Ten Walls, aka Marijus Adomaitis, who will be bringing his full live show Down Under for the first time, including renditions of the massively popular Gotham, Requiem and international dance anthem Walking With Elephants.

We’ll also see the debut Aussie performance from German contemporary Lake People (Martin Enke), as well as showings from Brit DJ Laura Jones, Ibiza-based Irish disc-spinner Gavin Herlihy, Sydney mainstays Yolanda Be Cool, internationally renowned DJ (and frontman of Shamen), Mr C Superfreq, ‘90s underground powerhouse MC Scallywag (of Spiral Tribe), and perennial party-starter Neil Hodgkinson. They’re all backed by an esteemed complement of local acts, including Simon Caldwell, Ken Cloud, Ben Korbel, Nick Law and many others.

Uniquely, Return To Rio is giving game-enough punters the chance to take over the ‘Have A Go Disco’, which will be hosted on the festival’s inaugural third stage, and give fans the chance to bring along some favoured tunes on USB, CD, iPod or phone for a crowd-sourced, Goodwill/Duncan Fellows-curated playlist party of eclecticism replete with smoke machine and lasers.

Add in the festival’s spread of light installations, VJs, impromptu performances, water aerobics, meditation, reiki, yoga, refreshments, consumables, drive-up camping, glamping options, and the all-important promise of clean, working amenities (including hot showers – luxury) – not to mention its 90-minute proximity to Sydney – and if you’re a dance-minded person looking for something to do between November 14 and 16, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better option to while away a  weekend than at Return To Rio.
