The Sydney cafe is opening its doors to gigs from November

The Deus Cafe, the food-and-beverage offshoot of renowned Sydney-based motorcycle outfitter (and food, art, surf, film and community-focused outlet) Deus Ex Machina, will be shaking up the status quo this November when it begins offering live music performances in collaboration with the constantly growing Music, Booze & Stuff.

Music, Booze & Stuff, if you're unfamiliar, is the corporate moniker under which stalwart booker brothers Matt and Dan Rule operate. The pair are renowned for having manned the calendars at iconic Sydney venue The Annandale Hotel as well as The Vic, in Marrickville — at which they staged a packed-out New Year's Day show featuring You Am I at the dawn of this year — and Newtown's Marly Bar.

Deus Cafe are not entirely newcomers to the live scene — they have hosted intermittent gigs/Sunday-afternoon kick-back sessions in the past, and, although finer details have yet to be publicised, the Rule brothers' extensive history with successfully introducing and sustaining live music at venues — despite the ultimate fate of the Annandale — should serve the Deus Cafe in good stead when it throws its hat into the live-music arena in a few months' time.

In the interim, check out the venue's Facebook page and get acquainted with the colourful, eclectic surrounds — you're likely to be seeing a lot more of them in the near future.
