'Further/Deeper' will hit stores next month

More The Church More The Church

Venerated Aussie outfit the church have revealed the title, artwork and release date for their forthcoming 25th studio full-length album.

The eagerly awaited Further/Deeper will be yours to own from October 17 in Australia and New Zealand, with a global release date not far off in the future, and will be available in CD, digital and vinyl formats, looking a little something like this (OK, entirely like it):

The BIGSOUND keynote speakers and showcase stars are keeping exclusive pre-order rights for their merch store — if you're eager, the band will reward your enthusiasm with an instant download of first morsel Pride Before A Fall, plus an additional bonus track — The Girl Is Buoyant — on release day. For vinyl purists, your dedication will see you grab a digital download card as par for the course as well as another three tracks not found on the CD version.

If you're so inclined, you can also score some Steve Kilbey original artwork, including portraits of each band member and memetic paintings that interpret the themes of the album's lyrics. Album-themed T-shirts are also available for purchase.

As demonstrated by their recent performance at BIGSOUND, the church are still an engaging, vital prospect on the Australian live music landscape, so the additional revelation that they will be embarking on a series of tour dates — to play the album in full, no less — is like Christmas has come a good three months early for the band's faithful.

The church kick off their Further/Deeper tour on Friday, October 24, at Canberra's ANU Bar, and roll through Sydney on October 25 before taking on Melbourne and Brisbane (October 31/November 1, respectively).

Tickets are on sale this Wednesday, September 17; see the Gig Guide or check The Music App for more information.
